Forget About Them I agree. One star is too much! My dog has pretty severe separation anxiety so the vet suggested I put him in doggie daycare...come to find out that he was in a cage most of the day. How is that going to help a nervous dog? Plus they must not have taken him out to pee because he rushed outside after pick up. This obviously means he's been holding it stuck in a crate. Plus they charge double!! They will never get another penny from me.
Spaying After reading the reviews I must say I was scared to death to bring my dog there. I had a Friends of Animals certificate and this was one of the few places that accepted it. I have two rather large Alaskan Malamutes (brother and sister) Madison went into heat and I really did not have a choice. Her brother is 120 lbs. and I could not physically keep them apart. I can honestly say we had excellent care and concern from our first phone call through her surgery onto her discharge. The price was just what we were quoted.... read more
Overpriced and Underserviced! I had sign up with friends of animals to have my dog neutered, and chose to go with Shaker Vet to do the surgery. I had never been there before and didnt know what to expect. They had me schedule a pre exam, said they needed to do blood work to make sure he is healthy enough to go under anesthesia. When we had got there, it was very crowded. I have a pitbull, 8 months old, who gets very excited around other dogs and had all the dogs in the waiting room all worked up so we chose to wait outside t... read more
Top notch facility I have had my dogs cared for at Shaker Vet for over 15 years and think they do a first class job. Although it can be busy there at times, everyone had been very professional and I can't say enough about Dr Wolfe, Dr Bronke and the many others who have cared for our dogs. My newest pup thinks it is Disney like to go there and the front desk makes a fuss over her whenever we come. They treated her in an emergency situation when she was very young and responded immediately to a situation that could have cost ... read more
MS I read the review written by JC regarding the issue with her cat and how Shaker Vet wanted the money up front before any services were rendered. I must say I've never had a problem with them. My husband and I have 2 dogs and one was in need of some extensive dental work. It was close to $1000 and they never once hesitated in offering us a payment plan. In fact we only had to give them $100 when he was discharged and made monthly payments. In fact we just made our last payment before Christmas. The office staff could be a ... read more
The best around Shaker Vet is the best around, if what you are seeking is a good balance of experience, technology, and convenience. I've trusted them with my cats for years, for routine well-care and serious end-of-life issues, and I've always been very satisfied with their thoroughness and thoughtfulness. Good care such as you'll find there does cost money; I've consulted other vets over the years (for second opinions) and I'm satisfied that Shaker's prices are very competitive in the area. And of course, Dr Wolfe is wonde... read more
Completely Misdiagnosed AND Overcharged!! I had to take my Boston Terrier to SV for an emergency visit, her eye was beat red and was tearing. They were good at getting us an appointment in a short period of time, and getting us into the room. When the doctor came in, he did a ton of tests to her eyes without explaining anything that he was doing, or asking if we wanted to do it. In the end he just told us that she had allergies and gave us some medication. We ended up walking out with a $280 bill from a bunch of tests. The f... read more
Shaker Vet is the best place! I think Shaker Vet is the best place! We have been taking our beagle/foxhound mix there for almost a year and a half and could not be more satisfied. As a first time dog owner, I am extremely critical and paranoid about every little thing with Buster, but Shaker Vet is always helpful. Buster attends doggie daycare there and the staff is absolutely wonderful. Its easy to see that he is not caged up all day because he comes home exhausted. He never smells badly after being there either, in fact so... read more
Good place to go I went to this veterinarian on an emergency basis after my cat had breathing difficulties. They managed to squeeze me in, in the morning. The hardest parts were the NOISE (a lot of dogs come here!) and the WAITING. We waited 40 minutes in the exam room before a dr. came but considering the circumstances it was understandable. As I later learned, patience is a virtue when visiting here. Also if you need to contact them for even the littlest thing they are understanding. (The vets on call however are not.) Ove... read more
