In 1979 Mike Crowder participated in the statewide Industrial Arts Association competition. In addition to an award for overall excellence Mike Crowder, a junior at Warwick High School took first place for third year woodworking and was the state's only winner of the American Industrial Arts Association for woodworking. He handcrafted a cherry corner cupboard for his Mom. It is still in his childhood home. In 1991 Mike decided to do what he loved as a business and began creating custom furniture. He was approached to do a kitchen and Crowder's Custom Cabinets was born. He began designing and building custom kitchen cabinets in his garage with his wife, Joyce, as his only sander/helper.
