Crank & Boom Craft Ice Cream started in the back of our family restaurant, Thai Orchid Cafe, with one flavor: Coconut. After making ice cream for about 6 months as a simple dessert option, we noticed some customers were coming in to just buy the ice cream….and they didn’t order any Thai food. From there, we began serving our super premium ice cream at festivals, weddings, parties and schools. So worth the 175 mile drive from Knoxville. I had the bourbon honey sundae for lunch. And a scoop of bourbon honey and salted caramel for dinner.
Just tried the salted caramel and that's exactly what it tastes like. It's amazing, I expect to feel the chewy texture of caramel or the crunch of the salt at any moment.
Awesome service! Extremely friendly and helpful folks. And of course the ice cream is great too! Love the Superfudge and the special Oreo, and the Chocolate Truffle is good too. This place could become addicting!

We attended an Art on the Move event (which was fabulous) and went downstairs afterwards for some ice cream. Such an enjoyable experience! Atmosphere is fantastic and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Cannot wait to go again!!
On the one hand, really enjoyed The S’mores sundae at the Fritz Farm location Tuesday night. On the other hand, found a coarse black hair embedded in the Oreo cone we also purchased when I bit into it tonight. Ick. Ruined the experience overall. Update: I appreciate the responsiveness of this business owner and have been told that new processes are being implement to prevent anyone else from having this happen to them. I understand mistakes happen and the response was very professional.
Our band was opening at the Burl that night and conveniently Crank and Boom was just a short walk away. We had the spiked scoop and the ice cream doughnut. Both were delicious and it was a great pre-show treat. We'll definitely be back!!
