They completed dropped the ball with my daughter’s care. My daughter’s case was complicated and Dr. Schmelzer didn’t seem interested in finding any solutions. As soon as we switched teams when my daughter was a year old we finally found out how to help her. I was very disappointed in this team. I wish I would have found Dr. Griner’s team sooner.
Dr Schmelzer & his team are THE BEST in Utah and probably west of the Mississippi. We've moved to Oregon where my daughter now sees doctors at OHSU & Randall Children's regularly & I can't tell you how many times doctors have remarked how perfect her lip looks. They're not wrong! Dr S performed a lip revision for my daughter at Primary Children's. My daughter's bilateral cleft lip and palate was severe & complicated & thanks to this team she has a beautiful smile. I, unexpectedly, moved to Utah after the untimely death of my husband. My child is in need of services. I was hoping to find a sympathetic, supportive cleft team to help me navigate my child’s medical needs as our grief has been extremely difficult. Sadly, the team left us astray and never told us they don’t accept our insurance after I repeatedly documented and shared our insurance in the meeting. Having experienced a different craniofacial team in the past, I want to sing praises for The Craniofacial Foundation of Utah!!! The team experience was amazing: informative, friendly, fast, and free! We walked away with all our questions answered, had a better understand of what our child's needs are and the medical path she needs to go down. Doctors Schmelzer and Jones were great along with the speech pathologists, Kimberly Hales and Shane James! Thank you!!!!!!
