Would recommend Dr Cottam for gastroparesis surgery (pacer implanted). It’s changed my daughter’s life. The recovery was a bit rough and the main incision was quite large and took months and additional stitching along the way to heal. But as for the surgery, it was a game changer.
That one time I got chop shopped by Dr Daniel Cottam from Utah Bariatric!!! Billed $149,000 for my surgery, told insurance he had to break my diaphragm... never happened. I was in and out within 2 hours(surgery 45 minutes and recovery just over an hour). Told me I would have 3 "little" incisions.... got 6 large incisions. I specifically asked not to staple because I'm allergic. DO NOT ever consider him. Tried to file a lawsuit but he had 17 different lawsuits still pending and the attorneys told me good luck getting anything... read more
DR COTTAM SAVED MY LIFE!!! I have suffered from extremely severe gastroparesis with over a year of surgeries, feeding tubes, treatments, medications, etc with zero help. I flew from SC to Utah to meet with Dr. Cottam to have a subtotal gastrectomy, gastric pacemaker removal, feeding tube removal, and reconstruction of my intestines. My girlfriend was set to get lifesaving surgery here but insurance denied it. Dr Cottam said he’d personally go to the appeal hearing and argue in favor with documents and support. He didn’t bother to show up, and completely ghosted us right before, during, and after the hearing even though the secretary said he was available.
