Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Staff was normal. After midnight, it changed. The silence isn’t empty—it’s occupied. You can hear movement that doesn’t stop when you listen for it. Not pipes, not settling. Consistent pacing, back and forth, like someone walking a path they already know. Woke up around 2 AM because something sat on the edge of the bed. This is my favorite place to stay in San Diego. It's right in the Old Town state park. Beautifully furnished with antique furniture. No TV or pool so stay to relax and enjoy all the park has to offer. There is a free shuttle to the airport and a parking space at the hotel which is gold in Old Town.

The location is lovely, but this hotel leaves much to be desired. I can definitely appreciate the historic value, but it is desperately in need of some updates: such as air freshener due to an extreme musty smell and a new curtain that can draw out light from the sun. Antique furniture is part of the ambiance here, but perhaps some dusting and repair would be good.
