So I was referred to her several years ago and I'm just thinking to write this review after consulting some Mayo Clinic notes that made me very angry. So I completed autonomic testing at Mayo Clinic in early 2017. The testing found mild pots and suggested that I was having sweating abnormalities. I had mild problems with my heart rhythm and was not able to sweat in the warmer months, which made me vulnerable to heat stroke for a few years. We were diagnosed at the Mayo clinic with POTS. Since we lived in utah we were told to see Dr. Cortez at the UOU. We waited 6 months to get into see her. The day arrived and we were fully expecting a lot of help. First she had us do a lot of tests if she had read any of my info, or even that I was there for POTS, she would have known I would not be able to complete those tests due to my injuries. If your tests come back with autonomic dysfunction she'll likely still refuse to help you that much, unless you're on death's door or something. It's also incredibly hard to get in contact with her staff, as the other reviews have alluded to. If you do ever get a response to concerns expect that response to be lackluster. She doesn't seem to listen to patients and keeps ordering the wrong tests. Will refuse to order tests even if it's warranted. Dr. Cortez is the only doc that’s been able to diagnose and treat me! Dysautonomia is awful, but she’s great.
