This company purchased the tax service provider that gave me great service, since they took over it has been a total disaster. I uploaded my documents for my tax return February 23rd and as of April 2nd nothing has happened despite numerous calls to the local branch. I'm scheduled to be out of town until April 15 and they claim they cannot do my tax return by April 3rd as I requested numerous times. These people charged my retired parents $500 for taxes last year! Income of less than $40k. What in the world? SHAME ON YOU!
I can't beat these people up too much, as I haven't actually done business with them, but as others have stated here, my CPA & his firm (also) sold to Venning. Now, tax preparation fees for a basic 1040 w/o a schedule C START at $545. I live in NJ, so I'm used to paying a premium for everything, but this is 3x what I've paid (for years) for tax prep services. Now that I've read about some of the horror stories of folks who went through this same situation, I'm happy to be moving on to greener (cheaper) pastures.
Horrid service. Filing status married file separate, wife paid the bill. Sent me an invoice anyway in an overbilling attempt. Never informed me when the quoted tax owed changed do to repayment of Premium tax credits. (wife understated earnings, no big deal on having to repay, but not being informed of the change isn't good). Filed form 9465 after having the conversation with Venning. Venning bought out my former accountant's practice a couple years ago, and from Day 1 they have given inexcusably bad customer service. I have had to track them down to receive the client tax organizer, they won't return phone calls or emails, they typically don't get my return to me until a day or two before April 15 (even though I meet their deadline for submitting the data) -- not enough time to review for accuracy, key documents were omitted from my return last year, and they are overpriced for the amateur work they do. ... read more
