Everything was awesome. Doctor was kind and provided detailed explanation.

But I at my recent checkup I was informed that I had to pay for service up front before anything was done. I received no warning about the policy change. For decades doctors and insurance companies worked out a streamlined process where the patient would receive treatment, the office would bill the insurance company, and then the patient would be billed for the balance due. I’ve been to Dr. Lai twice for routine cleaning and exams, and those visits went well — he’s nice, patient, and my previous dental repairs look good. During an exam, he found a wisdom tooth that needed extraction and referred me to Dr. Jin Wan Kim, who performed the procedure well. The problem — and the reason for my one star — is their billing practices and the unnecessary treatment they performed.
