In 2015 i literally destroyed my right hand my hitting a metal beam inside of a wall. The emergency room doctor told me he could get me at least 30% usage back of my hand...I immediately started crying. This hotshot doctor was probably 30 years old and that was a problem to me. Avoid: incompetent and dangerous. I broke my pinky on March 5, 2021. At the Sentara ER in Norfolk, I was referred to Dr. Carwell for a follow up visit. Dr. Carwell told me that surgery was necessary. I had surgery on March 12 and went through hell until I had a second surgery in April 2022. Dr. Carwell had placed screws and not pins. In addition, the screws were too long and damaged the tendon. I went see Dr Carwell for pain and swelling in my forearm. He had me feeling better in minutes. He is very caring and knowledgeable.
Dr. Carwell and his staff are fantastic. Very kind, gentle, and understanding. I was seen by Dr. Carwell in the ER for a very deep 6 inch laceration on my head (forehead into scalp). He took his time carefully stitching my head back together and was patient and caring during the whole process. The outcome of his work is fantastic and what was a traumatic injury will fade away into a barely noticeable scar.
This is the person you need when you've injured your hand(s). He's a rockstar!!
