Downtown institution – Wood-paneled, spacious but not overwhelming, and always quality. Here, I can feel like a grown-up, seated next to be-suited mid-level executives and the occasional lady awash in pearls, but still nab a can pf BPR for $2 and a tasty burger or toasty sammy for less than $9. A bit corporate, being downtown, but the staff is young and fun, and the food never fails (crab and artichoke dip anyone?). Great for big groups upstairs, or a lively chat downstairs with the sociable bartenders.
Classic Standards Done Well – Clyde's may remind some of a nicer TGIFriday's but I personally like the food and think of the restaurants as a far step ahead of such national chains. I've eaten at this location for brunch and at the Georgetown location for dinner and enjoyed both experiences. They offer large portions and hearty, well-made, standard American cuisine. I LOVE chicken n' waffles, and their "Joe's Fried Chicken and Waffle" was up-to-par with several of the local spots in DC where I've also had chicken n' waffles.... read more
Citysearch Editorial Review – A D.C. institution, Clyde's is a classic choice for out-of-town visitors. The cherry wood decor, white tablecloths and fine oil paintings of pivotal sports moments recall a more opulent era and capture something quintessentially American. The menu boasts traditional fare including oysters, burgers and filet mignon, and seasonal drink menus offer special treats to be enjoyed at one of the three bars or nestled in a padded upstairs booth. The spacious, bi-level layout, versatile menu and convenien... read more
Excellent dining experience – First time we ate here and it was delicious. It came highly recommended and we are returning the favor. Thanks for providing friendly service and delectable treats.
Great for Happy Hour This restaurant is huge, with several different seating/bar areas. The bar areas are usually pretty packed and loud, but the upstairs dining rooms are well laid-out, and good for dinner conversation. It's right next door to Verizon Center, so there is a lot of tourist, as well as business, traffic. The food has always been good; nothing particularly exotic, but the seafood is excellent, as are the burgers. Great place to meet friends for a drink.
Excellent Seasonal Menu Clyde's of Gallery Place is located next to Verison Center in Chinatown which adds a perfect balance to the dining selections in that area. Famous for Maryland Crab Soup which is, in fact quite good. Enjoy any selection from their seasonal seafood menu. No disappointments here.
Clyde’s of Gallery Place has a 4 star rating with 6 reviews.
