STAY AWAY. Club Julian is a massive rip-off. We made a good faith agreement with management that if we moved we could cancel with no charge instead of switching to a month-to-month plan. When we tried to cancel they said that we violated the cancellation clause and attempted to charge us $75 to cancel, which was coined â??a dealâ??. This place is a massive rip-off that will try to nickel and dime you if you ever try to leave.
Not a great experience my first week. Signed up for the treadmill for a half hour got thrown off with 4 minutes left as I went over my time purely by mistake. They didnt even give a chance to cool down. Management not sympathetic to any explanation even though it was the same woman who had just signed me up not even a week ago!! Definitely not a friendly place to newcomers!!!
I joined Club Julian after my (women only) gym closed and I'm very pleased with the facility. It has plenty of equipment, a well trained, friendly staff and a lot of free extras--sauna, pool, tanning beds, informative classes--and the cleaning staff are so diligent that they're almost a nuisance. Many of the members are geriatrics, many are younger people. In the five months I've been there--during every time of the day--I've never seen any notable problems and certainly nothing that wouldn't occur among any diverse group of... read more
too many old people, gym caters to them – I just quit after two years. The club has its pluses, like it is affordable (around 45 bucks),its clean, is 24 hours on weekdays, and the wait time for machines is not too horrible. The bad, and why I quit, is that it is very older in its clientele. Old people are people too, but the place is dominated by them. If you are young or a professional and are looking for a cool social place and to look at some pretty girls (or guys if your a girl) this place IS NOT FOR YOU. If you are 40, ... read more
Why Would They Allow This! – I just recently joined the club, and I totally agree with the Truth and RichardBGraham comments. The club is clean and has great team exercises, however there are so many rules; one of them is to sign up for the cardio machines before use (Rule 1). The problem with this is that sometime members sign up to use the machines and they don’t use them, thus members that want to use a machine can not. No First Come First Serve. It appears the management does not speak against bullies and discrimination.... read more
I No Longer Feel Safe There – At first, I like going to Club Julian. However, the Management WAAAYYYY over-sold memberships. It is far too crowded. Also, Management sold memberships indiscriminately and irresponsibly; you will find members who clearly should not be in a Health Club. Mainly, you find too many Elderly people clearly entering Dementia on the Track or working Nautilus Equipment – and that is scary! Elderly use equipment as chairs, block the Track, and say bizarre and inappropriate comments to anyone. I was once ... read more
My place to unwind – Four years ago, I searched for a health club that had a pool and spa services along with weight and cardio training. Club Julian fit my needs and the flexible hours helped ensure my consistent use. As a health care professional, I use the club to unwind after a hectic 12 hour shift, and for sharing time with my 68 year-old father who meets me there for our gym routine. My wife and son (who will be playing college football) are also members and each benefit from the complimentary personal training.
Never felt better than with Club Julian – I love that Club Julian offers personal training at no extra charge with a membership. In a year, I lost 65 pounds and over 30 inches overall and my BMI is normal. And, I have been able to maintain my current weight for the last 6 months. I feel so much better and was able to get off all of my blood pressure meds - and my cholesterol is now in a normal range. At 54, I truly have never felt better and know this is a lifestyle I can definitely live with. I intend to continue with the p... read more
Spotless and a great value – I have been with Club Julian for over 5 years and have never seen a cleaner facility in any of my travels. The Club’s 24-hour schedule allows for very convenient workouts. Plus there’s discounts for students, families and people with UPMC, Highmark, or Coventry Health Insurance – and no additional charge for personal training advice. Plus fitness classes and a pool too. It's a great value.
