An okay time Not a bad place...but compared to gyms around the nation, they are a bit dirty and out of date. Staff are okay, although most seem to have learned about climbing through books or playing on plastic.

Thank you As a former employee of CPI take my information as you will, but I will let you know I have worked there in the past and am currently volunteering as their site admin. I would like to say that we have been looking at all your reviews and we thank you for your detailed positives and negatives. With this, we have taken your information and improved the facility; while we have not yet gotten rid of loose chalk as we prefer loose chalk when we climb outdoors on a regular basis, we have gotten rid of the nasty outdated ... read more

Fun for all This is a great place to spend a saturday with your kids. The staff is well trained and very caring. We spent about 3 hrs there one recent saturday and had a blast. They are all about safety but also fun. My daugher is 11 and she had the best time scalling the walls as did my friends 13 yr old son. They showed just what to do and stood by to make sure we understood everything. I would diffently go back PROS: good time for the whole family CONS: pricey

By Far Best Climbing Gym in Town I love the Climbing Place. This place is for people at all levels of climbing. There are so many routes to choose from and the staff is always friendly. I've been to other places (especially in town) who seem to be elitist climbers and that is no fun. The climbing place staff is always friendly and willing to help out. They are also super flexible for military PT hours and it is a great alternative for group PT. I would recommend the climbing place to climbers of all levels!

Unsafe I did not like the rubber regrind or the recommended belay method they use, which, as someone stated earlier, has been proven to be unsafe. Also, rubber regrind is not clean... gymnastics mats are much better and a safer catch if you fall.‎

Not a place to safely learn to climb. Not a pleasant experience. No one has any certifications or credentials. The belay method is PROVEN out of date and NOT recommended by current AMGA (American Mountain Guide Association) standards. This is more an amusement park. I recommend RedPoint Climbing on Raeford Road. They have a credible staff with actual climbing experience and experience with AMGA courses.
