The Cliff House, where San Francisco begins (or ends), has always been a quaint and utterly charming stop for San Francisco visitors. Even with a renovation, the Cliff House maintains its original charm, but is now 21st-century spectacular. Gone are the old fashioned 1900s mahogany, tar and spar-like decor and fittings. So sorry to hear that the Cliff House is closing. I hope there can be some way to turn the situation around? But if not, and after 157 years, I understand that all things must pass. Just want to say thanks for some wonderful memories!

Great place to take your kids or your sweetheart. I have enjoyed many good meals at the Cliffhouse. Great for guests from out of town. Get a good meal and walk it off on the steps down to the Sutro baths.
