This company loves to harass individuals. I tried them before and my bill went up significantly. Since cancelling I have been getting mailers from them at least once a week. For an energy savy company they love to kill trees. Have asked them several times to stop sending me those, I was not interested. There are legal suits out against this company from due to unethical practices and what not. This company needs to be stopped.
Writing this lengthy review because I need for the potential customers to know how much of a SCAM this company is! I received a mailer from CleanChoice back in 2020 stating that if I signed up it would be a few dollars more on my bill, but at least it would be for 'clean' energy and not Duke's 'dirty' energy (citation needed). I didn't mind and signed up. If I could give them a zero, I would. They're charging me more than my rent, I'm literally about to be put outta my home because this bills so high. I've tried cancelling since January 14th and they're refusing to release me.
i've received past due notices multiple times over the past four or five months. I call customer service every time only to be told; we received your payment. i just received an email notice about a past due September payment that I've called twice about. It was paid.They are totally incompetent regarding business practices. i've never received a past due bill from any other company with whom I've done business. So happy that I gave them a 90 day notice in October.
This company is completely clueless and I agree their billing system is terrible. I cancelled my subscription in February and they sent me a bill in September telling me they were cancelling me. Makes no sense. It would not surprise me to see a bill next year (which they will not receive payment for) strictly as a last ditch money grab. This is a scam company and terribly run. I would not recommend them at all.
How are they claiming to care about the environment when they are wasting so much paper on these mailers?
This company has been sending harassing mailings to my home for more than a year - ironically addressed to a person who does not live here, has never lived here, and whom we don't know. I've marked these as return to sender, addressee unknown, at least a dozen times in the past year, and every month, we get yet another letter with threats printed on the envelope like "SECOND NOTICE" or "FINAL NOTICE" (oh, if ONLY!). Clean Choice Energy uses deceptive practices to get people switch to their company. A young man knocked on my door and said he was from ? and he could lock in a lower rate for me, he only needed to see my electric bill. After looking at my bill and quickly punching what I now assume was my account number into his little machine... he said "ok, thanks, you will now have a lower bill". Or something to that effect.
