Cool Place – I love City Beverage. It's one of my newest favorite "neighborhood" spots. I love the menu - it's really rather eclectic and I've never had a bad meal there. The service leaves a lot to be desired. It seems as if they are always either shortstaffed or those that they have waiting tables are a bit preoccupied and/or just not that great at the juggling demands of being a service staff. Funky fun – One of our favorite places in town - a cool funky atmosphere and tasty food. Try the homemade chips with gorgonzola sauce. They have very reasonably priced sandwiches and salads and well as a few more pricey entrees. Something for everyone! The outdoor patio is great when it is nice out. You may have to wait for a table, so get there a bit early and have a drink at the bar!
City Beverage-Don't let the name deceive you! – City Beverage doesn't always hit the target, but they do often. Plus, I love, love the atmosphere. The red and purple walls, the lamps made from bowling pins, the hurricane glasses hanging from the humongous polka dots on the ceiling. Fun hang out - Horrible Service – I am a regular here and I think that the food is pretty good, however a little over priced ($17 for a bowl of soup and it is not even a fancy place). However I must say the food is good. The service is HORRIBLE!!! It takes for ever to get your drinks refilled and the waiters & waitresses are more interested in themselves than doing thier job. When you do get your drinks they are pretty good (good bartender.....makes them nice and strong). Overall this place is ok.......
very nice – I have been to city beverage few times and enjoyed every moment. T he food is just to die for. the prices are really low compared with the quality of the food. the service is great.
Love the Beverage... – Contrary to the last post, I have always found the staff at City Beverage more than willing to accomodate our work group. This place gets packed for dinner, especially outside, where the tables are reserved for people having sit-down dinners (i.e. entrees). This is understandable, given the small size of the restaurant, and the upscale menu. Lost my business – The food is great -- the service is awful!!! I went with a group of friends for dinner and appetizers. They would not let us sit outside unless we were ordering full dinner. Some of our group decided they wanted dinner and they still would not let us sit outside. They completely lost my business, however, when some of the wait staffs' friends asked to sit outside to order DRINKS ONLY and were told that was fine. AWFUL SERVICE – I can't believe how awful the service is in this restaurant. Our waitress was so rude that we actually left the restaurant. I have never been treated like this in my life. We were a work group looking for dinner and drinks and they refused to seat us outside. Giving us every excuse to not let us sit outside. Funky little Durham lounge and restaurant offers up coffee, cocktails and cuisine. – In Short Purple and orange polka-dotted walls, vintage records and wooden tiki god masks adorn this retro hangout. A great place for a pre-theater meal or drink, this lounge offers a small--but thoughtful--menu (try the bruscetta trio for starters) and lots of specialty martinis.
