Editorial fromThe Citrus Bar & Grill consistently draws khaki-clad Upper West Siders who line up to sip margaritas at the retro-Western bar or sit down to Southwestern fare in the dining room. The fare is sometimes flat, but other times right on target.…

NO SERVICE NO AMBIANCE! – This was one of the worst experiences i have ever had! We made reservations at Citrus for New Years Eve for 8pm. When we arrived we were told we were 'checked in' just notify them when everyone was there. The last person we who was missing was just parking the car. We were seated at 8:30pm in the basement where there was no decorations or ambiance. Literally felt like someone's house basement that we had been banished to. So much for getting dressed up to go out. We promptly ordered our drinks and f... read more
poor – Went there tonight with a group of friends. Our waitress was "over" us before she even took our order. Food was average...the greens to my salad were not fresh so I only at the chicken. Our waitress never came back to take an order for another round of drinks, never checked to see how our meals were and dropped the check before we could order dessert. There are many great restaurants in NYC. Sad to see that Citrus is no longer one of them.
Uninspiring Cuisine and Service – The cuisine is poorly executed. Sushi was okay but the entrees were all boring, flavorless and uninspiring thought they read well on the menu. Sushi was fine, but the server had no idea what soy paper was or Nori or the difference. Completely untrained on the menu and its ingredients which isn't his falut and is the sign of an operation that just doesn't care.
Slipping a little – Citrus is a "go to" place for my friends and I when we can't decide where to go for dinner or brunch and/or weren't up for crowded dining areas and long lines. We like that there's ample space and several great choices on the menu. I almost always order the Citrus Chopped Salad. This past Sunday a few friends and I went for brunch and I'm sad to say I was disappointed. The Citrus Chopped Salad was lacking in the wonderful toppings -pumpkin seeds, jicama, avocado, sweet potatos and manchego cheese - that m... read more
Citrus continues to disappoint (Upper West Side, NYC) – Well it had been almost 2 years since I had last visited Citrus... I never found the service to be any good and the food was always average (even though the menu makes it sound fantastic)... Anyway, today - father's day - I decided to try it once again, as many of my first choices did not have tables available. Well I should have stayed home. Citrus disappointed once again. Not only was the food below average, the service was down right poor... only to be topped off by ... read more
Really? – Obnoxious
bad service/obnoxious manager – I went with two friends to what we thought was our local friendly restaurant, which we have been to many times. After waiting for an hour and a half (on a wait that we were told would be 45 minutes) they jammed us into a two person table and promised to "take care of us." Not only did they not take care of us (seriously, the manager, Natalia, did not do a single thing with respect to comping anything and was the single most unprofessional and rude restaurant manager that I have ever come acros... read more
You can do better – The food is tasty, but the portions are small and the service is slow. The noise level on a weekend makes the jackhammers on a construction site seem quiet. This is definitely not a place where you would want to have a leisurely dinner, but it is close to the Beacon theatre, and not a bad place to go if you are not spending more than an hour. If you are not going to the Beacon, there are lots more restaurants to go to in NYC rather than this one.
Used to be good – I must have eaten here right when they opened. It was summer 2005 and I had a really good experience, from what I can recall. I had just flown in and a large group of us went on the later side to dinner there. I can't remember what I had, but the food was delicious and the drinks were also working. Sad to hear that things aren't the same now.
