If you have a special needs child, expect for them to have a rough time. While Children’s has a great child life program to help with kids while waiting, they do nothing to help ensure kids that have trouble with waiting (like autism) don’t have have to wait any longer than needed. We had to wait over 2 and a half hours for my son’s surgery because they were so behind. All awhile he is trying to bang his head on things, and fighting the entire time wanting to eat. I called bc our doctor accidentally took our adoption forms to copy. While my husband was in room with my child I told nurse and receptionist I had to go outside bc I had gotten overheated. When I called back phone triage lady was super rude!!! It was merely an accident all the way around. But it definitely had me thinking about a different doctor possibly for my son. RecommendedMy daughter had a test today. I was worried about if she would lay there & have it done. In comes Chelsea, the child life specialist. She was absolutely amazing. She was there for her. Explained every single little thing. Wonderful experience. Perfect line of work for such a sweet soul ❤️❤️
