Follow up visit with a local physician, after my son sustained a spinal injury out of state in December. We found Dr. Kim to be patient, attentive and thorough. He took adequate time to explain the injury, share the prognosis and answer questions. While the condition will require future visits, we have full faith in Dr. Kim’s medical expertise and the initial doctor/ patient relationship.

Extremely fatphobic and disrespectful. Does not respect patient’s concerns.

He may be a good surgeon, but he is a complete a-hole. I have to say that he was one of the most arrogant, most condescending doctors that I have ever met. In fact, he meets the very definition: If you call someone condescending, it means that you disapprove of the way they talk or act because it comes off like they think they are better than or superior to other people. Many people find condescending behavior to be a turn off. This is Dr. Kim and this is what you can expect when you go to Ortho Virginia.

Dr. Kim may have the knowledge for his specialty, but he has zero personality. I have worked in pediatrics for years and its always such a shame to meet people who have no passion for their work. Healthcare has made each patient a number, but you always hope the ones who choose kids can maintain an ounce of kindness to help the children get through these difficult moments that they are facing when having to see a doctor.

I saw him years ago with my son. I felt exactly how the other 1 star reviews were written. This is what Army Doctors are like. Cold and dismissive.

Dr Kim has NO compassion for children!!! This is what Dr. Kim posted on my chart: Follow-up: Return if symptoms worsen or fail to improve. Due to the fact that the mother does not appear to be able to handle the child's pain and the child appears to be somewhat ill I will have the patient go to the emergency room. I have spoken with the same areas pediatric emergency room physician. My son was diagnosed with leukemia later that night. Dr Kim said he thought the pain was viral and was trying to just send my 11year old son hom... read more

Maybe this doctor is overworked but his bedside manner is seriously lacking. We were referred to him by our PCP. His attitude was short and dismissive, almost as if he’s challenging what you’re telling him you’re feeling. My 12 year old even picked up on the mood (he asked if the doctor was upset with him). Barely greeted us upon walking into the room, looked stunned when I told him we were here for a second opinion because my son was misdiagnosed and still in a lot of pain. He took a second X-ray and didn’t say much other t... read more

Our son broke 2 bones in his forearm playing a school sport. The athletic trainer set up an appointment at VCU, but Dr. Kim was recommended to us by the ER PA and a close friend, also a PA. So we went to both consults. VCU wanted to perform an ORIF, but Dr. Kim performed an intramedullary nailing. I much better procudure. The surgery was shorter and our son doesn't have to live with screws and plates in his arm. Reading reviews, it looked like Dr. Kim was low ranked bc of personality rather than ability, but the VCU doctor w... read more

Taken to Chippenham hospital for surgery on broken leg. Dr Kim did a great job, inserted plates around the ankle, feeling good. Thank you Dr Kim!
