American rock blends with Chinese kitsch at this popular hangout Chop Suey, a combination leading hipster crowds to flock in to hear their favorite bands perform. Red lanterns, dark wood, and a pagoda-styled stage lend a mysterious air to the interior, where some of Seattle's hottest local groups play side-by-side with nationally touring performers. With large dance floors, extensive bars, and seductive lounge-rooms, Chop Suey offers more of a nightclub atmosphere than many comparable venues, making it a multi-functional sta... read more

Google "Seattle Musician" – If you are one of the people that is going to rate this place a one because you didn't like the people that go there or because you think the music is "evil" then keep it to yourelf. THIS PLACE IS NOT FOR YOU! I am one of those "knuckle-dragging neanderthals" that smokes a little and likes loud, angery music. I am also a two time combat veteran that likes to have a way to vent through my music. I like to get into a mosh pit and push people around and get pushed around because we are all having fun... read more
Good Venue – Well i went to chop suey for the first time about a week ago or so and i liked it! It wasnt special, but it wasnt bad. As you can tell from the name its an asian themed club, i liked the decor, it was nice. It was really easy to get to, i had no idea how to get there, then looked it up and found out i only need one bus to get there. The size of the venue is good, its not to big, but not to small at the same time. Big enough to have extra room, but small enough to be an intimate concert. The sound was good, they ... read more
CLOSE IT DOWN – I HOPE THE CITY CLOSES THIS PLACE DOWN. THE OWNERS HAVE NO CONCERN FOR PUBLIC SAFETY. AS YOU WILL FIND THE CHARACTERS THT ATTEND THESE EVENTS FIND DEATH TO BE QUITE ROMANTIC AND THEY OFTEN GET WHAT THEY WANT. R.I.P. CHOP SUEY.
Don't really like the feel of this place. Too much attitude, fake hair, and snotty --kids. The sound is decent and I like the decor, but given the fact that they've not booked anyone I'm even slightly interested in seeing for quite some time, if I'm just looking for a place to get a drink I'll go somewhere without a cover charge.
great place for music – i like this place and it seems to get better all the time...they get good and diverse music acts...good size dance floor. cool looking place--has personality...i would go back
The stylish, crowd-friendly layout and eclectic lineup make this one of Capitol Hill's busiest clubs. – In Short The interior has been outfitted by someone with an eye for fashion and flare for kitsch--chinese lanterns hang from the ceiling, portraits of Bruce Lee decorate the walls, and a dim, red glow lights the dance floor. The layout is very accommodating to a good show: It's easy to get to both the bar and the bathroom quickly. The calendar is eclectic and might feature DJs one night and indie rock the next.
WHAT A SH*T HOLE – DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. THIS PLACE IS OVERPRICED & THE SERVICE IS AWEFUL. THE CROWD IS NOTHING BUT KNUCKLE-DRAGGING NEANDERTHALS. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR & GO TWO DOORS DOWN TO MADISON PUB, WHERE YOU'LL GET GREAT SERVICE, PAY NO COVER & FIND THE CHEAPEST COCKTAILS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. WILL SOMEONE BULLDOZE CHOPSUEY PLEASE. I THINK WE COULD USE THE EXTRA PARKING.
Not a one size fits all venue... – Chop Suey tends to book great acts although it has been a challenge to handle sold out live acts. The shows I have attended when there is a sold out live act have been terrible, not from the standpoint of the act itself but the venue's size and layout. Promoters and booking agents should steer clear of booking their band here! Sound is a mixed bag and is usually decent in the right spots. I went on one of the hotter days of the year and the circulation fans weren't even on! That is insane! ... read more
not – chop suey is a dark and charasmatic venue with a crowd that is there to dance to sets like Ming and FS, miss kitten, diesel boy, Mark Farina, to name a few. Come as you are, punk goth prep gay lesbian, whatever your heart desires. Plenty of pre funk bars in the surrounding area if you want to start early. I've never gone home disappointed.
Chop Suey has a 4.3 star rating with 1,127 reviews.
