Great atmosphere, quickly seated on time with a reservation, friendly staff and great food. I had the rack of lamb and a side of Brussels sprouts which were A+. The only thing I was disappointed with was the desserts. They were lacking flavors but the presentations were beautiful. Wolfgang Puck came and chatted with us and took some pictures. Great experience overall.
It should shut down before it destroys it's legacy. Seriously.
Great selection of fresh product and perfectly executed dishes.
Not what we expected - on any level! – For $160 a steak, with everything a la carte, you would expect the steak to be outstanding - but it wasn't! I wanted to take my wife out for a nice dinner for her birthday. After reading the reviews, I decided on The Cut and made reservations. We were on time and they seated us right away. When we got to our table my wife commented that it looked like an ultra modern 1950's diner. It was very loud and crowded with many tables very close together and not much room. Very unromantic. Our c... read more
THIS PLACE IS LIVING ON IT'S LAURELS; SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT. – I've been going to this place for special occasions over the past couple of decades and have always been totally pleased with the food and service. I'd not been for several years and went for a birthday celebration. We were so very disappointed. The signature lobster dish was just ok and had only four very small pieces of lobster that were not particularly tasty. For the price, it was just crazy. We also had a scallop dish for the second entre. It was good but no... read more
Old School Service and Quality – Really, we have yet to have an "LA" experience here, which is the ultimate complement. There is thought and consideration in both the level of service as well as the preparation and presentation of the dishes. It is refreshing to see an established restaurant that does not rest on its laurels and rely on celebrity name dropping for its appeal. Try the heirloom tomato salad for a sample of the complexity of flavors the chef has to offer.
OVERRATED – We decided to go here for my husband's 40th, and I will highlight the evening. Arrived and was seated during some sort of alarm/flashing light was going off. I had a slight headache from the strobe lights. Did not get the meat preview/overview, meat was not done properly and had to send back and ate it 10 minutes after everyone else had eaten their food. Double-charged for drinks and when we brought all this to the manager's attention, not really apologetic. For this kind of $, I expect a lot more. Especially bec... read more
Touristy – Wow, this place has seriously gone downhill. I would write a review of the Library Alehouse just down the street in a more favorable manner than this now old, and defunct joint. If you're over 60 years old maybe you'd still like coming here. In fact, maybe that's the specific old money crowd they're after at this place. Can you say too much salt? Ew. That's all I can say about even the most tried and true dishes that we've had many times in the past. Ew.
Looking forward to an old friend's place – Whenever you have a chance to visit an iconic place that serves you in the proper manner, with not necessarily the best food, but the best service; I'd say you should highlight it and make note for others. To elaborate, the food at Spago is first rate, especially the pastry chef's creations. A real highlight is the simplicity and decadent flavor that makes me want to return again and again. Sure, sometimes Spago is a bit hoity toity but we were always made felt welcome and that just... read more
