A bit above average – I had dinner with a co-worker and we split the calamari salad, crunchy spinach and Ahi Tuna. I thought the tuna was excellent but was somewhat dissapointed w/ the salad (chewy) andthe spincah (greasy). The $36 price tag on the tuna was high considering it was ala carte but it is NYC afterall. I would not say don't go but at the same time I've had better.
dont go for restaurant week – So my 1st stop for restaurant week was China Grill last night (1/24). Although I think Restaurant week is a great opportunity for everyone to experience moderate-expensive dining, I don't think it's a good basis to judge how an establishment really is, or is it? bc lets face it, ALL restaurants, especially, waiters/waitresses HATE restaurant week bc its super packed and the bill is much smaller than what they normally get. Do we care? No, bc we are cheap damnit, and we're here so serve us, and t... read more
Overpriced Street Food – We made reservations for 14 people on a Saturday night and had a family-style dinner. The salad portions were enormous. The entrees were also descent sized. Unfortunately, many of the dishes--like the crispy spinach and the calamari salad--were completely inedible. The chef should have held back on the grease and pepper. The dishes were soaked in oil and tasted worse than some street food in Chinatown. The dining space has the potential to be something spectacular, but it felt like a midtown office b... read more
New favorite restaurant – I went here twice during Restaurant week. The food was cooked perfectly. Over the course of my two dining experiences, I had the lamb, dumpling, tuna tartar, and noodle appetizers. the dumplings were average but the lamb was cooked wonderfully. The meat just came off the bone. As for entrees I had lobster, steak, and duck- all cooked perfectly.. I'm usually very skeptical about how my meats are cooked but I asked for medium rare and got just that. The flavors were incredible and the meat was tender.... read more
totally lame restaurant week – i guess it's my own fault for not scanning citysearch for china grill restaurant week reviews before going there a couple of weeks ago but yes, china grill's participation in this promotion is ridiculously tacky (a party of two is offered an appetizer each, ONE entree to share and ONE dessert to share). to start things off, when we arrived on time for our reservations we were immediately informed that there was a wait (which ended up being around 30min) to be seated. lame. i realize that RW can... read more
Really satisfying!!! – I went for restaurant week. I'm not going to comment on if it was a deal or not, but I will say that the food was really, really good. The portions are really large (it's all family style), and my friends and I couldn't stop eating even after we were full. We got the cold noodles to start, and veggie dumplings. Both were a little on the spicy side, but not too much to handle. Our main courses were excellent. We had the bbq salmon, which was cooked just perfectly. My favorite dish was the chicken. I don... read more
Excellent – Very good food here and nice service. Was not disappointed in any way. Location is very convenient too.
This is a unique dining experience, great restaurant – I have been to this restaurant once per year over the past five years and have always had a pleasant experience. On my last visit we had an awesome waitress. On previous visits I always found the service to be excellent. They serve big portions so eveything is made to share. I have tried many of the items on the menu and found all of them to be good. I especially like their beef dishes. Lobster pancakes are special. This restaurant will provide a great evening out and a ... read more
Great experience! – Service here is friendly, attentive, and overall excellent. Beef dumplings were good, the seared tuna was also good, and their lobster mashed potatoes are also good as well. Restaurant is quite roomy. Would probably go back.
