Editorial fromLocated in the lobby of the CBS Building, this stunning, hip and noisy space features soaring ceilings, a black-and-white color scheme, an open kitchen and two very busy bars. The menu focuses on the cuisines of Asia, and dishes might…

DISAPPOINTING FOOD PORTIONS – I went here during restuarant week for lunch when you are suppose to get an appetizer, entree and desert for the price of $24.07. The restuarant was crowded and very full and decorative, once we were seated we were told that the we choose 2 appetizers, 1 entree , 1 desert and pay 24.07 each. So where other restuarants give you your own entree and desert china grill expected you to share your entire meal. This is trully not sticking with the idea of restaurant week, so why participate at all? The... read more
Good Asian Fusion, Lots of Noise... – This place in midtown is popular with the business crowd and it can get pretty loud in the evenings. The restaurant is spacious and lighting is dim, and food is what one would call "Asian fusion"--Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and French influences abound. Try the skirt steak with lo mein, and their wasabi mashed potatoes have a very nice zing... Go with a group, cuz it's family style.
great food and atmosphere – I went there for my birthday. Since it was an early dinner, we didn't have to wait. The portion of food and the taste were great. My boyfriend is very picky, but he really liked this place. I'm not a fan of drinking, but the mango martini was great.
Best Restaurant Week Pick! – Dined at the China Grill during Restaurant Week, just so happened it was also the night of the Lexington Ave steampipe explosion. Despite the significant delay in our arrival, we were seated immediately (it was pretty crowded) and greeted by what would turn out to be, one of the friendliest, most attentive waitress'. Considering our order was off of the pre fixe menu, the food portions were extremely generous, down to the superb dessert. We were so full after, we could not believe we were actuall... read more
great food and a delicious cheese dessert – I came here during restaurant week with my newly married wife. Booked at opentable and when presented with a menu option different from what advertised i brought to the attention of the manager that i signed for a different deal. After having listened to me he very kindly and professionally agreed. This was the opening to the best meal we had in two weeks of food tasting. We tried them all, Daniel, One if by Sea two if by land, and countless others in a two weeks nYC food experienc... read more
Worst Experience Ever - we have NEVER walked out of a restaurant before this. – My husband and I tried to eat at China Grill this past Saturday night, but did not. Arriving promptly at 9:30, we were immedately seated, it looked like a promising dinner. After 15 minutes at our table, nobody from the restaurant had been by - we had no menus, no water glasses, and had not been asked about drink orders. At this time, my husband got up and the hostess know that we had not been served. At this time we were presented with menus, wh... read more
Not Good – I went to China Grill with high expectations and I was very disappointed. The meal was really not that good. Considering its repuation I was hoping for more, like better decor, better service and better food. I will not be going back to China Grill. And the worst part was that the place left a horrible smell on my clothes!! I left and smelt that place all day on me, it was gross, had to get everything dry cleaned. Yuck!
A bit above average – I had dinner with a co-worker and we split the calamari salad, crunchy spinach and Ahi Tuna. I thought the tuna was excellent but was somewhat dissapointed w/ the salad (chewy) andthe spincah (greasy). The $36 price tag on the tuna was high considering it was ala carte but it is NYC afterall. I would not say don't go but at the same time I've had better.
dont go for restaurant week – So my 1st stop for restaurant week was China Grill last night (1/24). Although I think Restaurant week is a great opportunity for everyone to experience moderate-expensive dining, I don't think it's a good basis to judge how an establishment really is, or is it? bc lets face it, ALL restaurants, especially, waiters/waitresses HATE restaurant week bc its super packed and the bill is much smaller than what they normally get. Do we care? No, bc we are cheap damnit, and we're here so serve us, and t... read more
