Today, I walked into Chevy Chase Hardware, seeing if I could buy a replacement mower blade, and the worker said: “Hey, that one looks rough, but it’s still good enough that we can just sharpen it—it’ll be $4.” I’m the least mechanically inclined person on the planet, and there have been so many times that I’ve come in with some shopping list for a project and they talk me through how to do it and convince me I can do it more cheaply than I planned. This place is a local gem! Wonderful customer service, lots of merchandise!
Since moving into the area, this place has replaced my frequent trips to big box stores. Though it's small, I rarely show up without getting exactly what I needed. It's amazing what a great selection they have and everything is at competitive prices. It's also doesn't hurt that it's in walking distance from my house. It's a throwback to the old neighborhood hardware stores but also has kept current with a modern and useful selection.
