I had a spinal fusion that took 7and half hours which Dr. Bursick would take about that time. I was treated well because I worked with him and his partners for years so I felt comfortable with him. Now I walk bent over and I have to use a cane all the time, my retirement has been ruined, I hope his is better. I suggest you do a lot of research to see how other people are doing after a really major surgery which I must say I didn’t do. Good luck if you decide to have the surgery.

I have been a patient of Dr. Heres since 2015. When I see him for an appointment, he does not seem to remember me. In fact, when I last saw him on Nov. 22, he asked me who referred me, why was I there? I had just seen him in July. Maybe he does not remember patients because he has fellows taking care of patients. He just runs up and down the hall like a drill sergeant scaring the fellows. No personal interest or caring demeanor from my experience. Very disappointed.

If I could she should have -10 stars. I had two different types of back surgeries on L1-L5. Spinal fusion and burst L3. I broke my foot and still may need surgery on it, I will find out in two days. I was in a nursing home for 2 weeks and the hospital for 3 weeks. I have been prescribed morphine and OxyContin from UPMC themselves and doctors who tried everything for my pain I am a recovering alcoholic but haven’t had problems with drugs at all. After an excellent initial tele-medicine video visit while my 88 year old mom was dealing with excruciating pain following 2 compression fractures, we could not reach Dr Bernstein again for her followup on the prescribed intervention . Our PCP also attempted followup with Dr Bernstein and she too has not receive any return message, 8 days after placing the request.
