Dr. Howard Chen listened to my concerns and thoroughly explained my treatment options in a way that I could understand all of the pros and cons of surgery. I would highly recommend Dr. Chen.Unfortunately I had a wait time of 2 hours before seeing the doctor at the Santa Cruz office. The technicians, front desk staff, although seemingly efficient, were not, in my opinion, very friendly or informative. This review is from a support staff perspective. I've been in healthcare for about five years, but Dessouki is undoubtedly the worst provider I've ever worked with. Carries himself in a pompous, unapproachable manner, and has zero respect for his support staff or patients. Honestly, I can't say enough bad things about this person. He's just plain awful.
Dr. Chen is an outstanding doctor who, despite the enormous workload of all physicians, always manages to display patience and warm professionalism. Any questions I have are answered with care and in a thoughtful manner. He is a gem.

I’m so glad that i was referred to Dr Dessouki by my general ophthalmologist 2 1/2 years ago. Thanks to his expertise and thoroughness he has successfully treated my eyes for central serous retinopathy! I am now free of any worrisome symptoms! His bedside manners are excellent! I suffered from a retinal hematoma in one eye and put off seeing anyone about it for a couple months thinking that it would clear up on its own, it was like looking through a fishbowl with the same eye. Dr. Monahan gave me a series of antibiotics and was able to restore almost all of my vision except where the scarring occurred. I would have been up a creek had my other eye gone bad. Dr. Monahan and the staff are extremely pleasant, they're very patient and attentive every time I show up. I'm very happy Retinal Diagnostics w... read more

Dr Chen gets an A+ in my book. He removed a floater in my eye after cataract surgery. He is personable and will explain the procedures and answer any questions you have. I felt extremely comfortable and had a perfect outcome. I highly recommend him and would return in the future if warranted.
Dr. Chen, has done an excellent and professional job on my left eye. I walked into his office and could not see out of my left eye. With his professional advice and surgical skills and staff I was able to see again. What a true miracle in science.
