Pizza dough on onion and bbq pizza was premade and frozen. It would taste better with dough made same day. Also we were on out lunch break and we needed to pay. Our server took forever to take our check so we went to the register where the other server AT the register told us she couldn't ring us that 'our' sever had to so it (?????). Will not go there again.
Food Poisoning My fellow teachers an I often ate at Checkerboards. However, last week I got scombroid poisoning from a piece of fish. If you are unfamiliar with this type of food poisoning, it looks like an alergic reaction. My school nurse administered an epi-pen and called 911. When I informed the restaurant, on advice of the ER doctor, the owner was very defensive and rude over the phone. I went in to speak to the other owner, and she refused to see me. Checkerboards Pizza Restaurant & Bar is The Middle of the Line We have eaten there a handfull of times. Good food, OK service, Decent atmosphere... If your looking for something to grab quick its a great place for that..
Checkerboards Pizza Restaurant & Bar is just ok I really feel this place is just ok. We've been a couple times and I wasn't impressed. If you go at peak hours it can be loud, and off peak hours service can be slow.
