I would like to see these iconic cars brought back to life! I remember reading an article in Popular Mechanics in 1980 or 81 about Checkers. Wish I had bought one.
I was sad seeing them slowly get fazed out of the streets in New York City where I'm from. I've missed out on opportunities to own one/restore one as most I encountered where in very rough conditions. Now with the expectations of new modern models being produced a new classic will be born - I'm all in!
The custom Checker pickup will make it big in the car collectors market and with a state- of-the-art late model drivetrain this model will be a very popular vehicle because of the discontinuation of the Ford Rancharo and Chevy Elcamino there really isn't any "carstyle" body pickup's that are latemodels.
Thank you for your enthusiasm for a car that brings back memories. I gifted a high school.graduation gift by David Markin, and subsequently two more for college. Truly a generous person.
