I have had two separate lumbar microdiscectomy surgeries performed by Dr. Chan in the last 6 years. The first one, L3L4 the second one 5 years later, L2L3. The first one is still in tack the second one I am still recovering from surgery. I have complete confidence that Dr. Chan is very good at his profession. I have healed very well from the first surgery five years ago, and the second surgery I am still in the healing state but know it is going to come out fine.
TIP: Find another surgeon! Dr. Chan (the name he calls himself despite his last name being Roonprapunt) did C4-6 ACDF on me in June 2018 at Mt. Sinai West Hospital which failed. He did not use plates, only empty cages. Bones did not fused; this is called pseudoarthrosis. He denied it failed even as I had another spine surgeon at another hospital perform revision surgery on me, 3-level ACDF C4-7 with a C5 corpectomy on January 2019. I had terrible pain in my lower back radiating to my legs , could barely walk, when I went to see dr Roonprapunt. He ordered all the appropriate imaging tests so we can move foward, I decided on the surgical route& within 3weeks he operated on my lower spine, cleared my stenosis & fused my L 5. Dr. Chan is a world class surgeon, who has given a new lease on life to me. I was referred to Dr. Chan for back surgery by the Mt. Sinai Pain Mgmt. Dept. after several years of treatment for spinal stenosis/sciatica, with injections and physical therapy. My condition steadily deteriorated, so that walking, climbing stairs, etc., was becoming unbearable due to pain and numbness in the lumbar spine and legs. I have been seeing Dr. Roonprapunt since May for a herniated disc that caused severe pain down my right leg. It got so bad that I was unable to walk more than 1.5 blocks without sitting down for a rest. I had a microdiscectomy at the end of July and am already seeing a world of a difference! Dr. R was really thorough explaining the procedure and gave me time to think everything over to decide if it was right for me. I am so glad I went with Dr. R- he is thorough, helpful, and most importantly he fixed my pain!
If I could rate Dr. C. Roonprapunt a 10 we would. He completed a Lumbar Laminectomy & to our heavenly surprised my hubby is doing great the very first day so I said let's wait until when anesthesia wears off and he doing better than what we expected he's in great spirits and walking too much I tell him overall doing great. No more leg pain. I recommend Dr. RC bcuz he is caring friendly most of all Good Looking! Lol!Thank you Dr. RC for giving my husband back his life for he was feeling doomed!
This doctor was awesome. I had a herniated disc impacting the nerve root that severely affected my mobility. Dr. Roonprapunt performed surgery and cured my issue. The pain was fully resolved and my mobility restored. I recommend the doctor with no hesitation. Great doctor. Great result.
Dr. Roonprapunt provided excellent and very quick diagnosis of my condition and recommended surgery, which he performed. My recovery was exactly as he predicted, and the severe pain that I had been experiencing before the operation was completely eliminated.
