Central Market reminds me of home. It's not just your average grocery store. It's a foodies dream.
This rating is for the cafe. The other day I watched the waitstaff text instead of putting my hot food up for me to pick up. I used to be in the service industry and decided not to verbally reprimand them for this mistake...but I visited Thursday of this week around 2 PM. My food sat in the window, order complete, for more than ten minutes and my irritation grew more and more watching the cashier lean against the counter on her phone. We had been one time before a few years back but hadnt been back in the area until this weekend. We are from Oklahoma and I wished we had something even just similar to Central Market. Both times we visited we had breakfast and it was just a delicious this time as it was the last time we were there. Very nice market overall.
My favorite place to shop ever. Love the service the prices and selection. It's a family institution for us.
I bought a birthday cake but the rep was too busy or seemed not to be bothered so asking to write "happy birthday" hardly seemed appropriate. The upfront cashier was so busy speaking, laughing, and professing love, "you know you love me" to her co-worker, and continued ringing my cake. Without looking asking Ilif I was paying with debit or credit, completely if boring the cash in hand. All I could say was, "girl, really" and handed her my cash.
The weekend music events are becoming a part of the special Austin culture, where you see people of all ages dancing, eating and listening to all varieties of good music. Kudos to your management and especially to Angel, who goes above and beyond expectations in keeping the room organized to allow good dance room, and clean tables and dance floor.
