About this business

Since 1989, Cedar Grove Composting has been your one stop shop for recycling and quality soils in the Northwest. Cedar Grove plays an important role in diverting organic waste from landfills. From two local facilities, we compost over 350,000 tons of residential and commercial yard and food waste annually. If Cedar Grove had not invested in this technology for our local community, all that organic waste would disposed of as trash and shipped to landfills. Instead, Cedar Grove transforms it into nutrient-rich compost-based pr... read more

Bought a yard from the Woodinville store in March, 2018. Total garbage with lots and lots of glass shards, pieces of hard and soft plastic, crayons, and even pieces of a purple condom. It is all over my landscape beds now and there is nothing I can do about it. It is just crap don't buy it.

Business response:

David, please accept our apology for the delayed response. Wow! This does not sound like Cedar Grove compost. We'd like to find out more about your purchase and offer to replace it. If you don't mind calling our customer service number, we'd be happy to chat with you and learn about what you got. Thanks! (877) 764-5748

I bought several yards of compost last spring. Unfortunately I didn't notice until my guys had already spread much of it that there was pieces of plastic and other trash chipped in with it. I'm going to be picking it out of my beds forever. I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because I used to love them. I heard that they used to use lots of manure (back when I loved them) but now they use the yard waste from the garbage company. Looking for a new source of compost for my veggie garden....

Business response:

Dawn, please accept our apology for this delayed response. We'd like the opportunity to remedy this; our compost has always come from recycled food and yard waste programs in King and Snohomish counties and we do not process manure or include it in our compost. If you can call our customer service number, we'd be happy to provide some replacement bags. Thanks for trying Cedar Grove and we hope we can earn your trust again. You can reach customer service at (877) 764-5748.

The Cedar Grove potting soil I bought was infested with fungus gnats. I've lost several seedlings, cuttings and am having to repot a stressed hibiscus and the only common denominator is this potting mix and the resulting infestation. Not recommended!

Business response:

Sibyl - we are so sorry to hear of this experience. If you don't mind calling our customer service number and asking for "April", we'd be delighted to have the opportunity to address and resolve your issue. Thanks, in advance, for your consideration.

I have used Cedar Grove's compost for a couple of years. This weekend I purchased several bags of topsoil, however, and was very disappointed. Every bag was sticky, wet and chunky, full of rocks and plastic, and, perhaps worst, smelled like sewage. I will be having this particular batch tested to make sure it's safe to use in my garden. For all of the other cited reasons, I will not be purchasing again.

They have little care for the neighbors around their facility. My kids have been sick, the local elementary school is impacted, the odor is destroying our quality of life in Maple Hills, a neighborhood next to their facility.
