About this business

Editorial fromThe East Village is home to scads of bistros, and one of the standouts is Casimir, a hangout for young French expats. The waiters will be unimpressed with your high school francais, so don't even bother trying. Just ask for your…

A sunday nite i will remember – Went to casimir for a drink at 7pm...End up closing the place ...after a patis at the bar i was hoocked...i had the duck special my friend the filet mignon with a bottle of red wine... then we shared a dessert (chhocolate cake) and port wine listening to my favorite song "wish you were here"...loved it

i feel good in my neighborhood – Charming, organic and excellent...good hearthy wine buy the glass under $8 no wonder casimir is still a must with a big brasserie menu and always good daily specials. Eat and share the vibe that's what is all about.

TRENDY! – I have been to Casimir many times. Trendy is the one word I would use to describe it. Bar service is always great. Wait service is good and bad. You'lll get your food, but you mightened get a smile! There is usually a good, buzzy atmosphere at night and there has always talent. Nice ambience, good food. It is quite pricey, but the duck dish is worth it. As a treat, it is well worth a try.

Below average food - worst service – This restaurant used to be pretty decent. Over time, the food quality has decreased substantially, it is a lot less crowded than it used to, and the service must definitely be part of the reason. Everything, from the soft bread, soggy salad, and 50 minute wait time, with an incredibly rude service to deliver below average food. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Oh yes, and they lie on the phone, claiming they have seating in the garden, then of course the seats are not available... read more

Good food so-so service – I have been to Casimir over 5 times and I have always had a great time there. The food is great and reasonably priced. I have tried to make reservations, but both times, the hostess didn't have my name. If the weather is nice, try to snag an outside table. The staff has been nice, but they seemed really stressed and the unisex bathroom needs to be cleaned more often.

Good place, weird crowd – I've been there a few times, and I usually end up sitting next to some pretty odd people. Odd for Ave B, not just odd, The place attracts an eclectic crowd to say the least. Aside from the bearded, courdoroy blazer professor type with the NYU student he's sleeping with that week, you see a strange mix of hipsters, frat boys, Will Smith types who need to be told they are black, bitter cougars who cant understand why they arent married yet.... Just an odd group. Anyway, the food is good, the price is ... read more
