Editorial fromThe East Village is home to scads of bistros, and one of the standouts is Casimir, a hangout for young French expats. The waiters will be unimpressed with your high school francais, so don't even bother trying. Just ask for your…

An Old Standby Continues To Charm – Casimir is one of those beloved places that East Villagers just dropped by for years. We were always happy with the food, service & ambiance. Nowadays, at least on the weekends, it's a good idea to call ahead for a reservation if you're eating after 8:00pm. Success hasn't spoiled Casimir--on the contrary it is one of the few places that rises to the challenge & has actually become a better restaurant. It has the relaxed feel of a great lounge, good service and excellent food. If you're a f... read more

really good bistro – I move to the east village about 6 months ago. since I do not cook, I go out every night and had a chance to explore all of the french bistro around. I picked casimir my favorite bistro for its chilled ambiance on week days (week ends are usually crazily packed!), and the habitual great food....The specials are usually delicious, the chicken liver salad is really good, the fois gras is home made and very tasty, the filet mignon is super tender, the lamb is too die for and all of the side orders are highl... read more

Decent bistro, maybe overconfident these days – I've been going to this place on and off since it opened. It's got great classic bistro atmosphere, but lately i feel like they've gotten sloppy. I had the foie gras terrine the other day and it was bland and a bit "off". Scary. I think they just need a fresh perspective in the kitchen. They need some sort of expert chef to come in and give a little jolt to the staff in general. Not that they need to change the menu, but they have been on auto-pilot for too long. Its starting t... read more

Sorry guys, casimir will stay a comic for ever... even in restauration... – I went in this restaurant because it had been strongly recommended by an american friend of mine. I was with my girlfriend. The appetizer (escartefigue) was good. especially the oak cheese in balsamic vinegar, it was very good. Then I ate a confit de canard. The matter is... The duck is not confit at all. It has surely been bake for long hours to be so dry... Another thing some kind of weird... But first you have to know that I am French. The waiter ... read more
