the worst service ever – it looked nice from the outside. once my friends and I got inside, the ambience was the worst. We should have seen the writing on the wall. The owner (?) a blond older woman was screaming at someone working behind the bar. But...we were hungry and decided to order. Service was slow but we finally got a waiter who seemed nice enough. Ordered wine and appetizers. The wine came in a timely manner, but the appetizers took awhile. Oh, by the way it was 7:30 pm. We did not get our entree until 9:30, and I ... read more

Tourist trap-All about taking your money. – The seating was quick and at first the staff was friendly. We got our drinks and the waiter took our order quickly. After the food was brought we never saw the waiter again. The food was average, I would have expected better in Little Italy. The waiter never came by to check on us once, we had to flag someone down to get extra water and it took two times just to get our waters refilled once. When we were obviously finished and it was time to pay the waiter suddenly appeared and hov... read more

Avoid the place at all costs – Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Avoid the place! What a waist of time and money! The service was extremely slow; the waiter was impatient and arrogant. The special that I ordered 'gnocchi with chicken', was horrible. The gnocchi were uncooked and rubbery. When I complained to the waiter, he said that is not his problem, and he send the nasty owner to solve the problem. The owner told me that I should have stayed home, that I'm not a lady, the gnocchi are made of boiled potatoes, which are already... read more

Try the veal – Very nice place, good food, great service. I took my wife out for her birthday and the restaurant was just as good as I expected. The calamari was a little chewy, but the entrees were wonderful (she had seafood and I had the 20-yr veal chop). It is a small place and of course was crowded, but we still had prompt seating and very prompt service. If this is your first visit to Little Italy then you can't go wrong, and you will want to return.

---- HOT SPOT !!-- GREAT VIEW -- &FUN !! – WE CAME OVER ON 11-25 FOR DINNER. My girl and I expected a typical tourist eatery But, we are very glad we picked this one. It is one of the larger restaurants on the row, sits right on corner of hester st. Our waiter , Renatto was busy but somehow alswaysmanaged to read our minds, make suggestions, joke and extremely knowledgable on food and wine. We sat in the front of the restaurant at a small table in the middle of a lot of action. The food was steaming hot, and Renatto 's servi... read more

AMAZING IN EVERY WAY!!! – A few friends and I were on company business last week in NYC and while we were bargain shopping in Chinatown we turned the corner into Little Italy. It happened to be during the San Gennaro Festival and we saw this restaurant Casa Bella and thought - ok we will eat there. It was such amazing food: The Antipasta was amazing, so was the stuffed Artichoke was amazing, teh house wine was delicious, the Tirimisu was insane and the manacotti was perfect ... not to mention the coffee was some of the best ... read more

Rip-Off – I went to Casa Bella on Saturday night for a late dinner (10pm). The crowd was lovely and so was the outdoor seating. The menu prices were standard for Little Italy ranging from 15-25 an entree. All the veal entrees were $18.95, yet I chose to order the veal special. Generally speaking, specials are 1.5X menu price, however, when the check arrived the veal was a startling $35.00. It wasn't any different from a typical veal scalloppini and the portion was not especially large. I asked another waiter to confirm the p... read more

Perfect 10! – There could not have been a better experience. My mom came to visit from California and she really wanted to eat in Little Italy. A friend suggested CASA BELLA. We were both pleased with the food, ambiance and service. My mom requested a table by the window so she could "people watch" and although the place was very crowded the hostess accommodated us by adding an extra table for 2. We started with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes and shared two entrées. I had shrimp scampi and mom enjoyed the chicken milanese. Un... read more
