They missed that I was bipolar. So did Ruby Memorial, and the inpatient Chestnut ridge with WVU. I tried to kill myself in my dorm room in Lincoln Hall. Got real close, too. This isn’t bad for what it is, but needs a lot of improvement. If someone out there is reading this, and is hurting, know you’re not alone. Was told that I could not receive therapy here because of my history of suicide attempts. Additionally, the only thing they will treat is anxiety and depression, so they will diagnose you with anxiety and depression even though you are dealing with something else. I had the experience of being denied treatment over a year ago, so maybe things have changed.
Built up enough confidence to call and get help for my mental health but after calling I’m definitely not going to see anyone. The lady on the phone with me was very short and didn’t seem like she wanted to help me schedule a time to come in. I really think how phone operators handle themselves in these institutes is a huge factor on if a kid is going to get professional help of suffer in silence. I called feb 7th 2019 @12pm ***edit: went in person and was happy with the advisor I saw.
