Predatory company. You can call to change a payment because it won't go through and they'll continuously hit your account numerous times insisting they have no control over the repeat attemps. Call center staff are not only unhelpful, they are flat out rude and hateful.
This marks the fourth issue I have encountered with Carrington Mortgage. I am attempting to sell my home under a mortgage assumption, and the ordeal began on 10/14/2024. This morning, the buyer called me in tears, distraught over the ongoing delays and challenges. They lied to me during the pandemic. I was on hardship due to lack of work. When it came time to pay it back I was told that the back pay would be added to end of my loan. That would have been great but the person did it as a refinance. I asked him was it a refi and he said no. What a liar. Now I am stuck.
Recently closed with Carrington. Process was smooth and timely. Was concerned based on the reviews, but all went well.
If zero was an option, this dumpster fire of a company would get a negative 10! Used the covid-era CARES act as a backdoor way to drive interest and other fees….slow played us when we called multiple times to get monthly mortgage payments restarted…and then requested all the deferred payments (plus interest) to avoid default. Conveniently sold the mortgage when they realized I had the funds to do just that.
