We weren’t planning to replace the insulation this year, but after removing part of the ceiling during a remodel, it became obvious that the attic needed much more attention. Some of the old batt insulation had been compressed for so long that it barely covered the ceiling joists anymore. We didn’t realize how much energy was escaping through our roof until we started seeing condensation in the attic. The old insulation was patchy and damp.
