Most beautiful patio in Decatur. Hidden gem. – Some friends told us to try out Carpe Diem in Decatur. I didn't even realize it was there. I had always enjoyed Apres Diem and Carroll Street Cafe and was delighted to hear that there was another in Decatur. We had brunch there the other day, taking advantage of the unusually mild temperatures we sat out on the beautiful Carpe Diem patio. The service was prompt and friendly . The brunch menu had many unique and interesting choices and everything we tasted was delicious. It is a ... read more
Management horrible!! Customer Service SUCKS!Tim Shaw should be fired! – We chose this place to meet up with some old friends. The food came out and it was not good!!! at least 4 of us had some sort of problem, either with the drinks or food but the bad thing about it is that no one tried to make it better, instead of coming out to see what it was they could do to make it better, they kept coming up with excuses!!!! I don't want to hear excuses, just make it better, I'm paying my money, but instead of trying to make it bette... read more
In the end I decided it's not worth the wait... – Carpe Diem does have a fabulous and unique atmosphere esp. compared to the rest of the eateries in Decatur but I'm not sure if a stop is worth your time. I have been to Carpe Diem about 10 times as it's down the street from where I live and every time I went the service was slow. Too slow. Once we waited a long time only to have my frittata arrive uncooked on the inside but I let it go. After this past Sunday when it took 40 minutes to get a simple brunch I finally had to cro... read more
Ultra-stylish but unpretentious eatery makes a home in down-to-earth Decatur. – The Scene This elegant, industrial space makes a dramatic statement. From the entryway, stairs lead down to a striking dining room with soaring ceilings and lots of glass. Banquettes line the walls, while sleek mahogany-stained tables fill the room. In contrast, low-slung couches cluster around coffee tables in the intimate bar area. Service is friendly, if somewhat flaky. The Food The well-rounded menu works for sampling. Fried calamari is well ... read more
Tasty, but – The food was good, but the sauce on the fish was supposed to be a meuniere (spelling?) and it really wasn't. I was surprised that the snapper was lightly battered, and delighted by the risotto, asparagus, and haricots verts that were served with it. The orange cake was delicious! The service was a little spotty, but overall, I would go back for another round.
Don't waste your time here – Not at all impressed with this venue. Service was slow, management was rude, and food was mediocre. If you bring your own birthday cake the restaurant will surcharge you 2.00 per person fee and if you don't want this charge on your bill then the manager will sabatoge your cake. Our ice cream cake was brought out melted to the table. If you request seperate checks for a large party 20% gratuity will be added. The manager insulted my friend on her birthday and called her a "ditzy blonde" because sh... read more
Ahhhh – My wife and I arrived for an early dinner. Only one other party was dining, but the hostess refused to seat us in the booth in case a larger party arrived (they had plenty of tables for larger parties). The ambiance was great, but the tables for two were tight. My wife loved her chocolate martini and ravioli with lobster sauce. My pork chop was overcooked and dry. The service was average; the food was a bit overpriced.
Great Experience – I went to a luncheon at Carpe Diem on Saturday. The atmosphere was GREAT! The food and service were wonderful, too. We had the brunch menu and everyone loved their food. The hostesses said the staff was VERY easy to work with and everything went smoothly. The private room at the front of the restaurant was perfect for special events, too. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Really inconsistant food – This place as amazing atmosphere, but the food was really bad. Appetrizers were good cheese plate and fries. But the portabello ravioli was awful. Just tasted like garlic, I mean really strong, and no other flavors at all. It is a great place to hang out and drink though, as the couches in the bar are very inviting
