favorite pet store EVER! I have been there twice, and the staff is really helpful with all of your questions. They have the BEST selection of pets to choose from. Dogs, cats, rats, ferrets, rabbits, sugargliders, skunks, and many more. It's obvious that the people working there spend a majority of their time with the animals, because they are all really friendly. Also, if you look around the whole store you can find a variety of things to purchase for your pets; anything from clothes to food to beds. I would highly recommend... read more
Over Priced and Under Cared for Reptiles I do not like going to Carols and don't recommend it for anyone going for reptiles or reptile supplies. Carols has their reptiles priced for about 50% more than you would pay for them at other places. She knows that she can place her prices as high as she wants because she is one of the only pet stores in town that has a selection of reptiles. Carols also lacks in staff in the reptile department. I was in there once and asked a few questions about one of the snakes and out of the four... read more
bad practices abound Carols Critters is a little pet shop located across from Vinyl Fever and next to Velvet Vintage. The store is full of bad practices for pet stores, from the fish tanks full of dead and decaying fish to the routine overbreeding of the small mamals they have on site. They do not have separate nets for sick fish tanks and healthy ones (although I doubt any of them were healthy). The store stinks of animal feces and is poorly organized. Unfortunately they are the only pet store that carries small mamal exoti... read more
Carol's Critters is the best pet shop in Tallahassee! I went to Carol's yesterday to look at the reptiles along with browsing their selection of other animals and I was hugely impressed! THe store is small, BUT the animals were all so friendly and healthy in appearance. Carol was upfront with what snakes would be friendly and what ones are not so friendly. I held several pythons and my favorite an albino red tail boa. IT was wonderful. I will be returning to purchase several snakes and hopefully she will have other exotic pe... read more
great store I visit carols on a regular basis and am very impressed at the selection of animals. They have friendly staff and animals. A couple of years ago my friend took me there for the first time and all the animals were healthy and friendly. They had a rabbit and a skunk running around playing with each other and a wide selection of fish including shark eggs and sting rays. I also was highly impressed with there reptiles they had several different species of snakes including green tree pythons red tail boas and king and... read more
Carol's Critters is my place to shop I frequent Carol's Critters for all my pet needs. I have Sugar Gliders, snakes, fish, doves, hamsters and rats. I've never been disappointed by the quality and quantity of items and animals that I'm looking for, and if she doesn't have what I want, Carol or her staff will readily order it for me. Though the setting is very small and somewhat crowded, the atmosphere is times better than the arrogant Petsmart and even more arrogant, customer-ignoring Petco.
Diseased Animals Today I visited Carol's for the first time and decided to buy two pet rats from them. The staff was nice enough at first... but then I requested to see some younger rats from the back. The girl working with me (who I found out later was new) got the approval from another supervisor (also female) to take me into the back where they are basically breeding feeder rats/"pretty" feeder rats to sell as pets. I fell in love with two young rats, despite the fact that the living conditions weren't the best (they were... read more
carol's critters I think Carol's critters is a much better pet shop than say Petland. She lets her animals out to play in large areas rather than in a "BOX" like petland. And Carol's is reasonably priced and she also LOVES animals unlike other pet stores which treat animals like they are a piece of merchandise instead of a companion. I personally bought a Siberean Husky from Carol and He is the MOST beautiful Husky I have ever seen and I only paid $350 and he was healthy. I also purchased a Siberean Husky from a breeder. The... read more
Carols Critters - A rebuttal I visited Carol's Critters yesterday 10/15. I was looking at puppies and did not check out the other animals in the store. I found the puppies were very reasonably priced and seem to be in much better spirts than those at Petland, the other petstore in town. The puppies in Carol's shop seemed very social and well cared for. PROS: Store is very clean, Staff is friendly, Puppies seem very socialized. CONS: Small Selection
