DO NOT go here! Money is #1 and customer care is nonexistent! We should have known better after an ER visit when my husband sat in the parking lot for 4 hours and couldn’t get an update on her. Finally, when he learned she was still in a waiting area, he went inside and had to demand they return her back to him. He took her to another ER Veterinary Hospital where the vet and staff kept us updated. Our WORST mistake was to take our dog back for a planned cataract surgery. She became very sick and died 5 months later. We spent the $$ on tests before her surgery to make sure she had no issues. The internal vet cleared her for surgery and she was a healthy 9lb dog. Her cataract surgery was not successful, although Dr L***** declared it was after coming out of surgery. She ended up blind in one eye with glaucoma. The night of the day of her surgery, we had to take her to the CVS ER since one eye had crusted over. We were scolded the next day during the phone eye appointment for not recognizing this was glaucoma. We didn’t see this as a good way of getting started with her aftercare. 2 months after surgery she developed a cough. After a series of tests it was determined she had a bullae in her lung, which never showed up on any of the many tests done prior to surgery. Dr O**** was very condescending after I asked him to explain a bit more about this condition in which I had no knowledge. I was trying to wrap my head around what he was telling me. First thing out of his mouth was to suggest removing a lung. He had already lined up a vet for surgery. Our dog’s health was declining and we felt she wouldn’t make it through this intensive surgery. He had to know that. $$$ We opted for cough medication. Asking how this was not seen prior to surgery and what was the cause, we were told it was either parasites, trauma, or it was already there. It wasn’t seen through all of their many tests, she didn’t have parasites, so that leaves trauma…anesthesia, our expressed biggest concern.

I cannot recommend this place for "emergency services". Our dog has been waiting 4.5hrs with no end in sight. We were originally told within the hour. Now I'm told, still, "we have no idea, the doctors have their priority list." I think my dog with a broken wrist, unable to walk and stressed, has some level of priority above zero. They have no concern for my dog. People have come and go all day long. Horrible business. Here for the money, but not even remotely for the animal.

These people are out to take advantage of you because they know you’re in a vulnerable situation. They performed surgery on my dog only to be told by their veterinarian a day after that she most likely didn’t really need the surgery. I was still charged thousands of dollars and my dog is suffering from dangerous after-effects because of having the unnecessary surgery and not even being sent home with antibiotics. We’ve come back for issues that were caused by the unnecessary surgery and now are being taken advantage of once again. I’ve been told a different story by each person I’ve spoken to and the office manager refuses to accept responsibility for their mistakes. Not only this, they are EXTREMELY slow, which results in even more unnecessary stress and agony for your pet. This is not our first experience with Carolina vet. We’ve had very similar experiences here twice before. Avoid this clinic and go ANYWHERE else. They do NOT care about the health of your pet, only about padding their pockets.

We brought our 11-year-old cat to this clinic after he broke one of his top canine teeth and appeared to be in pain. We called to let them know we had arrived and why we were there. The receptionist told us to wait in the parking lot and that there were a few urgent patients they were working on so it may be a while. Understandable. An hour later, I called to see if I could use the restroom. I decided to ask if there was any update on when my cat may be seen. When this receptionist realized that I had a cat with a dental issue, she informed me that they couldn’t do anything for him. She apologized, and we left. We went to another clinic that offered pain relief and were able to remove the tooth. We have a follow-up with a veterinarian who specializes in dental work. An hour after we left, I received a call from CVS to let us know that they were ready to see my cat. I was really confused at that point, and I let them know we were told that they couldn’t help my pet so we left. This receptionist also seemed a bit confused and apologized. I can’t speak on the care of this facility because I never received it, and I understand we all have our off days. Things are also more confusing in the midst of COVID so I’m sure that didn’t help matters but I just wish someone told me when I initially called that they couldn’t see my pet instead of letting us sit in the parking lot for an hour. It would have been two hours if I hadn’t called to inquire about restrooms. I now know that pet dental work is very complex and not a widely offered service, especially in an emergency setting. It’s not something I thought about before or really knew as I’m not a veterinarian so please be transparent about your services when speaking to pet owners seeking help.

If I could give 0 stars I would! Highly dissatisfied!!! Worst place I've ever dealt with. We were on vacation from Texas, visiting family for Christmas and my dog ate something she shouldn't of. She threw it up but then started acting lethargic. We took her in to the emergency vet at 10pm and they gave her an xray but didn't let us see it. The vet said she had an unusual gas pattern she didn't like but didn't say she saw anything else. She recommended us giving her an overnight IV treatment that would cost $1,200ish but she highly recommended surgery which would cost $4,500ish. We asked what her chances of survival with the IV treatment would be and the vet said a 50/50 chance. Not being able to pay for surgery we decided to take her home that night. They gave her a shot to not throw up and injected fluid into her back. Thinking she was going to die, the next 3 days we made her as comfortable as could be. I force fed her beef broth for some nutrients since she refused to eat and massaged her stomach area. On the third day she passed the worst gas ever and woke up the next morning to her back to her normal self and have had no issues since. We took her for a check up to her normal vet when we got back to Texas and he said this emergency vet most likely just wanted the money!!! He looked over the paperwork I received from the NC vet and said they only said she had an unusual gas pattern. Her regular vet said she was a very healthy 7 month old with no issues. I am SO glad we did not waste our money and put her in pain with surgery!!! They made it seem she was going to die without surgery!!! Almost ruined our Christmas day because of this place!!! We didn't even get a follow up call to see how she was doing.

I definitely do not recommend this vet for an emergency. Our kitten needed help and after a three hour wait in the parking lot, we decided to go elsewhere. At approximately six hours they called to see where we were in the parking lot!

Yes, they are expensive but you are taking your pet to a specialist with advanced training. Dr. Muse saved my schnauzer who got into a fight with a much larger dog. Three days and three surgeries later, Apollo is home. I got called twice a day with updates and know he got excellent care.
