User review by umbwr – This is the best Italian I have had yet in Chicago. The service is fantastic and so is the food.
Great food! – My friends and I found this place on city search. It is probably the best restaurant I've been to in Chicago. I absolutely loved everything about it. We usually go to Volare, but I've had a change of heart! :) I cannot wait to bring family and friends to this fabulous hidden spot!
An Absolute MUST!!!!! – Forget the trendy restaurant tourist scene- Caro Mio was the best restaurant we visited! Sit outside if you aren't drinking, you are surrounded by a garden of flowers and lights. If you'd like, bring a bottle of your fav wine and dine indoors- no corkage fee and the ambience is authentic Italy. Family owned and operated, expect homemade soups, pastas and breads. Attentive service- we even had the owner stop by! Couple this dining experience with a visit to The Green Mill Cocktail Lounge just a few blo... read more
Chicago's Best kept secret – When I brought my picky, unplacatable mother-in-law here-- I knew she would be pleased-- what I did not expect was to her her weep over the exquisite meal! The modest surroundings and intimate atmosphere (not to mention the wait line out the door on the weekend... all loyal regulars) are among the best parts of this hidden gem. It is worth any length of wait... I promise! The service is remakable-- I have had the servers remember what I have ordered on past visits in order to reccommend delectabl... read more
a true neighborhood joint – Caro Mio is a lovely little restaurant with a diverse customer base. We live in the neighborhood and bring our infant there, and we've always felt welcome. The service is warm and friendly, the food is terrific - portions are large, so we eat family-style - and I wish we could go more often! If you're looking for a hip spot, this won't do it for you. But if you want a good meal, good dinner conversation, and a laid-back atmosphere, Caro Mio is the place.
Fantastic – Food and service combined made it a great place to eat. The soup is unbelievable!! Chalk one up for Ravenswood.
The fees add up – The food is good, but be prepared to pay a $5 cork fee even though it's BYOB and a $3 share fee even though the portions are huge and the prices a litle steep for the neighborhood.
BYOB and relax... – I have been a couple of times and will be back again... went with a friend, brought my own bottle of wine and enjoyed a good meal... the waiters were attentive.
Unbelievably Romantic – This is the perfect restaurant to take that special date. The friendly servers make one feel at home but do not intrude as diners eat authentic and delicious Italian dishes in one of the most romantic settings in town. At night the terra cotta walls bounce off candlelight from tiny wall sconces, overhead candleabra and table candles. The music even contributes to romance; soft popular music alternates with Italian arias. This is the restaurant where I would hope to get engaged!
