I looked at a Grey 2012 Chevy Malibu with 24k miles on it. The car was stickered for $13999 but the sales person told me she would get me 12998 for it. I took it for a drive and took it to one of my family's nearby fleet garages and the fleet manager there (aka my sister) took time out of her busy day to check it out for me. Nightmare, that is the best way to describe dealing with Carmax Nashville. They sold us a SUV for about $23,000 that has been in an accident, was not properly repaired and the accident was not disclosed to us. We bought a 2012 Ford Explorer with 18,500 miles on it. Almost immediately we realized that every time it rains water leaks into the SUV. That plus the weather stripping was ripped up and the door had issues closing. Stay away!
We bought a lemon!!! – We purchased a Toyota sienna van from carmax in October of 2011. Since buying it only 5 months ago, both power doors have broken and the power steering system needs $1400 worth of work. We are sick about it because we were counting on this van to last us for the next 5 or 6 years. If you must buy from carmax, take the vehicle to your mechanic for a thorough inspection. Do not rely on their so-called CQI (certified quality inspection)!!!!
Service department is terrible – I purchased a car from Carmax in August 2011 and have had nothing but problems since. I purchased the warranty, but so far nothing has been "covered." I noticed when I bought it that there was a faint smell, but I assumed they had just cleaned the carpets. Wrong. There was a water leak when they sold it to me and the floorboards were damp.... and then soaked. Let me pay their friend instead of offer the free service – The receptionist (her name was Tata?) was rude and short with me. Everything was fine except that I asked if they offered rentals. They said they would have a rental there for me, but said nothing about the complimentary shuttle service. The rental was not there, the guy had to call to have the rental come out, and from the way they talked on the phone, they were clearly buddies. Still nothing about the free shuttle service. BE CAREFUL – do not give your last name to anyone there or they will submit loan applications without your approval or knowledge!! HORRIBLE customer service
thumbs down for carmax – purchased my car in 2007, had nothing but problems from that day forth. Had to constantly take my car in for repairs, that they could not figure out, or fix on the 1st trip. Made continuous trips for the same problems. No friendliness, no care or concern. I now take my car elsewhere to be fixed, they will never touch my car again. There needs to be a lawyer that will take on the case of unhappy customers who have been swindled by car max. Even the Customer Resolution Center, couldnt resolve my issues... read more
Doesnt care about customer. – OK - I tired and tried. When I bought my car in Jan. of 08 I had to bring it back 4 times so they could fix everything that should have been done before I purchased the SUV from parts missing to the lock the held the keys so you could take it for a test drive. They left it all in there. Now Micheal Booker sold us this car and he was fun and knew what he was doing that part was the best part.
