My entire experience at The Cancer Institute located in Normal Illinois has been amazing! Dr. Fernandez and his team created a tailored radiation treatment plan to address my prostate cancer. Everyone at the cancer Institute made me feel relaxed and ready to begin my treatment. My nurse Megan explained things that I needed to know and was very attentive. The nice ladies that got me ready every treatment day for my radiation treatment were so kind and helpful.
Horrible place! I took a family member there many times First the nosey receptionist has no discretion and will call you by your full name when discretion should be in place. She scolds you if you miss your appointments like some principle. And she eats at her desk....Dr Fernandez will pass you through like a number so fast zero bedside manners and zero connection from doctor to patient. I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma by a nurse practitioner. This is a terminal disease with no cure. Several weeks later, I was called by the hematologist at night, stating I did not have bone marrow cancer. I asked the doctor how this misdiagnosis happened? He said the nurse practitioner is not a doctor. Well, then, don't let her be in charge of "doctor" diagnoses. I asked the NP to call me back.
