Capen Hill Nature Sanctuary is an 86 acre wild life preserve located at 56 Capen Road, Charlton, MA. Trails are available to hike on from dawn until dusk. Dogs are allowed on leashes and please pick up after them. The visitor center has a gift shop, a nature library, and many animal residents that make the sanctuary their home. All is free of charge! I spent a lot of time at the sanctuary when Ruth and George Wells lived there,. My uncle Xavier St.Laurent was the caretaker and lived in the cottage for many years. My children and I would hike the trails, pick blackberries and help my uncle feed the beef steers. I am so pleased that it has been conserved. When I was a teenager I worked for George and Ruth in the gardens and helping my uncle with anything he wanted me to do. We had our daughters birthday party here today and it was awesome. She loved the animal presentation, and Claire's face painting was a big hit with everyone. We had lots of room and the kids had a blast running around. Thanks so much
