Updated: Anyone who has lived in an apartment understands that a baseline level of neighbor noise is normal. However, being able to track someone’s exact movements—knowing they’re walking from one side of the bedroom to another, working in the kitchen, or moving into the living room—crosses the line into a real disturbance. I visited a friend who lives here and was shocked by how loud the footsteps from the upstairs unit were. My friend is deeply bothered by the constant noise. After experiencing it myself, I’m honestly relieved that I don’t live in this apartment.

If you are sensitive to noise, work from home, spend a lot of time at home, or have young children, I would strongly recommend thinking carefully before renting here. The downsides: 1. Very poor sound insulation / thin floors This is a roughly 50-year-old apartment building, and the floors are extremely thin. You can hear footsteps from the unit above so clearly that you can almost tell exactly where they are walking.
