About this business

This is a quaint Italian restaurant, just across the street from the Salt Lake City and County Building and the downtown Salt Lake City Public Library. After a day of browsing books, stop in for a great meal. It is a perfect place for business lunches as well because of its intimate atmosphere. If you have no time to sit down, call ahead for take-out. Try the manicotti or the popular small Italian salad.

My daughter had her Wedding rehearsal Dinner at Cannella's and it could not have been nicer! The setting was so relaxing and beautiful, The appetizers were out of this world. We had risotto mushroom cakes, variety of different cheese and crackers and bruschetta. They served us a mixed green salad with Italian sausage and veggies with the yummiest dressing on it. For our main course we had Alfredo Lasagna or Chicken Parmesan. Desserts Chocolate beet cake or tiramisu. The severs we had that night were the best I have had in th... read more

Cold Food – First time visit. Went there because seems to be the only restaurant that have veal. The veal was warm but the noodles and the sauce were cold. The waiter never came to ask how the meal was or if I needed a refill on the drink. My wife had lasagna and was warm to cold too. Most likely wouln't go again.

One of the few good restaurants in Utah – I've been going there for over 30 years, I won't stop, It isn't always perfect, real people, real food. Once when I went there and didn't know they closed between lunch and dinner I went there and didn't notice the closed sign, got in the one of the owners sat us and served us anyway. That's the way they have been and always will be. Oh yea, the food is great too. Its a restaurant, not a food factory.

Where Everybody Knows Your Name... – We moved to Salt Lake City about four years ago and stumbled upon Cannella's after seeing the Body World exhibit at the Leonardo. Joey was our bartender and upon meeting him it was instantly like chatting with an old friend. Now everytime we come in the staff recognizes us and always says hello. We eat at Cannellas several times a month and the service and food is ALWAYS amazing. I'm shocked to see even one poor review on here. I even reserved the downstairs for my husband's 40th birthday... read more

Salt Lake's Finest... – What a blessing it is to have such an authentic restaraunt still in existance in SLC after over 30years at the same location! Cannella's must be doing alot of things right in order to have such a long lasting history in this town. I ate at Cannella's last night! I had the most amazing Lasagna I've ever had. I love their Lasagna! ... and I love the fact that Cannella's gives you options with your Lasagna. On the dinner menu, check out Alberto's Meat Lasagna. The first time I tried it... I thought... "y... read more

Gross!! – I've been a regular customer here for a few years and used to really like the Lasagna. It used to be delicious, baked with the cheese a little crispy at the edges, just right. Well tonight I went and for whatever they have decided to serve it microwaved now. The center was COLD. I sent it back, THREE TIMES. sorry its gross. Now I have a stomach ache. I won't be going there again.

Normally a better experience – We attempted to eat there on New Year's Eve. Despite over half the tables being empty before 630pm, we were told we couldn't be seated unless we promised "to eat fast". We normally eat there a couple of times a month and enjoy it - I doubt we are going back.

Unique to the Market; Consistent Quality – let me say up front, i love utah...for a lot of things...one of those things is not it's restaurant culture. what is anathema to a thriving restaurant culture in utah? the customer base. by and large, restaurant patrons in utah are enthralled with the corporate-restaurant ideal 'yes is the answer, what is the question?' just read the posts about cannellas... cannellas really doesn't fit into the restaurant fabric of utah, and that's great. it's been able to thrive in such a harsh la... read more

A Salt Lake classic – My friends and I frequent Cannella's for get-togethers, meetings, and parties. I've also brought work groups here for lunch. The food is always delicious - I love the tortellini with sausage and chicken in the vodka sauce. The staff is always accommodating and never complain when we stay late or get rowdy. I'm an East Coast transplant and this restaurant would be a hit anywhere, from the North End of Boston to Little Italy in New York. We're luck to have Cannella's here in Salt Lake.
