Best restaurant I've ever been to hands down. So so so delicious.
Excellent food at relatively high prices. We had prix fixe brunch, entree, juice and dessert for $34 each. Excellent quality and worth the money if you can afford it. Wonderful food....and I say that as a non vegan!
I looooove Candle 79 and make a point of going there whenever I'm in the city. This last time I had the burrito and a watermelon refresher for lunch and both were everything my hungry little veg heart could desire. Probably the best vegan burrito anywhere! I would bring my carni friends here for that burrito. Service was very attentive and pleasant. Altogether a lovely experience!
First of all, our review is mostly based on our personal experiences, but also on professional. We get the hype about Veganism, still it's a disturbing scenario when it gets posh... The seating time took a while, food was quite average or the cook does not know his profession(sorry, greasy, unseasoned portobello dish is not ok). The serving was just not satisfying either. Waiter was knowledgeable and timely throughout meal, food and drinks define the word "delicious!" NYC just became our #1 in vegan dining.
The food and service are awesome! The seitan piccatta was exceptional! Can't wait to go back to try other dishes. We need a Candle 79 in Mount Vernon (Fleetwood area)!
My girlfriend and I, while maybe a bit influenced by still sitting here and enjoying a post desert cocktail, couldn't be happier with the restaurant, the atmosphere, the service and most importantly - the food! She had the portobello steak which was grilled/seared very well, over a tasty bed of creamed spinach. I had the mushroom crepe which was terrific as well!
