Awesome Food, Great Location – My friends and I had a great time at Calzone's the other day. One friend had the burger, which looked incredible. She said it was one of the best she's ever had. I had the orzo with coteghino sausage and the spinach salad - they were both really, really good. Fun place to go with alot of people. They have great Mojitos! We will definately come back sooner than later!
Paying for the Location – The location was great. Especially on a nice sunny weekend. However the food was not anything to get excited about. I had a spinach salad and it was drenched in dressing and was supposed to have pancetta, olives, and onions. But it was mostly just spinach. If I wanted this I could have just made it at home. My boyfriend had flavorless risotto and sausage. The only think that looked decent was my friends sandwich with fries or the pizza. Oh yea and the mojitos were WEAK. I think they forgot the rum!
Blah... – Reminds me more of a chain restaurant like macaroni grill or olive garden than nice north beach spot. Plenty of better options. The staff is arrogant and had little personality.
Great Food, Great Location – We LOVED the food and the atmosphere at Calzone's. I went here for lunch last week and had an amazing sandwich, the soup was incredible. Decided to go again for dinner this week and had yummy salad and pasta. Sat outside and enjoyed the warm heaters above our table and people watched. In the heart of North Beach, Calzone's is the place to be. We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Calzone's. I would say this is my favorite restaurant.
Dont wast your time – This is on the strip of tourist central. The atmosphere wasnt that great unless you were seated outside. The food itself was just boring. I had a pasta dish with crab and it wasnt that good. I did see a few calzones pass by and they looked interesting, but I was terribly disappointed.
WE LOVED IT!! – We had a great time at Calzone's today, I had to write...we sat outside, enjoyed the sunshine and a great lunch. My husband had the lamb tenderloin on a bed of arugala, it was delicious. I had soup and sandwich special--great homemade soup and a yummy Italian cotegino sausage sandwich. It was great. It's a lively place with interesting decor, tables outside and beautiful plates--oblong shaped like their pizzas. We both loved it and will go back soon.
Skip this tourist trap – Ended up at Calzone's on a whim. I had a decent eggplant and feta appetizer, but the lasagna entree I ordered and calamari appetizer were pretty terrible. How tough is it to make good lasagna and calamari? Dessert selection was small and a little dull, but not bad. Service was so-so, but good people watching out front.
A perfect people-watching spot, this North Beach Italian restaurant draws visitors and locals alike. – In Short Large windows overlooking the street are great for daytime voyeurism, and in the evenings, the warm glow of blue lights sets the mood while you dine. Open early for breakfast, locals stop in for coffee and crepes filled with mascarpone and smoked trout. The signature dinner entree is angel hair pasta with clams, mussels, prawns, and calamari in a garlic tomato sauce.
