I want to thank Tamara for her courage in sharing her story about Dr. MacEwan. Breast cancer patients, beware. I met with Dr. Ian McEwan, who my LA surgeon had only recommended because this is the only place that has protons in California and he is apparently the only one doctor who treats breast cancer patients there. He pushed partial breast treatment with protons on me, when my regular oncologist from an academic center said it was against normal guidelines because I am at risk for the cancer coming back in other parts of the breast. The CPTC staff (therapists, nurses, office staff, etc.) were very professional and kind to me, but I had a starkly different experience with the chief physician of the Proton Doctors Professional Corporation (Dr. Andrew Chang) , the group that contracts with CPTC. I found that he was unusually disorganized for a physician-manager, acted deceitfully in retrospect and ultimately took advantage of me.
