** an update after investigation results: after investigation that was done by major inspectors; even with 4" panels it would collapse, the pergola was too big to be even approved by engineer,,, so NO, its NOT only the contractor responsibility. a legal action was made against everyone who was involved. We had Calc Engineering do our condo 40/50 year recertification it was great working with them to get our structural electrical and thermal reports. Masood answered all questions and was accessible at his office. Highly recommend CALC engineering
